Good Vibrations: Crystals and Essences

I've been slightly out of commission in making the transition to a new computer and learning its features (still learning).

Summer is a great time to give your crystals a bath and put them out in the sun. Consider, though, the following precautions.

Soft crystals, like selenite, malachite, and azurite, shouldn't be soaked in water. Rub them with a damp cloth and clear them with smoke from a smudge stick. This also applies to angelite.

Rose quartz and amethyst fade if they spend a lot of time in direct sunlight.

Quartz crystals gather and radiate heat that can be intense. Don't start any fires.

Watch out for strange animal-related events.

I like to put crystals in the pots of plants I keep on the deck, both for the vibrational value and to keep squirrels from burying nuts in the potting soil. However, the squirrels, being unstoppable, often pick up the crystals and throw them on the deck.I switched to using large minerals (2-3 inches in length) for the plants, which discouraged the squirrels. (So little does.)

Once, when I had a lot of crystals soaking in water outside, I discovered that all the egg-shaped crystals had been removed from the bucket. I suspect raccoons.

If you have any suggestions for giving your crystals a summer vacation, I'd love to hear them.
